Earthdog

The STCNE Earth Dog competition was completed in Harwington Connecticut Saturday - Sunday (10/15-10/16).  There was great participation (65+ guests) with several terrier breeds represented.

The participants, guests and volunteers were treated to a couple of perfect middle of October Southern New England fall days with foliage, sun and perfect temperatures.  Judges and several non member guest commented on a well organized and conducted event. Thank you to the many volunteers.  Arrangements and preparations by John and Lucy McNabney were particularly appreciated.

From Dr Robert Shulman

Founder and Chair of the Renee Shulman Benefit for Senior

Scottish Terriers

I am so grateful that such a large number of members are

supporting the rescue of senior Scotties. This was so very

important to Renee. You can be proud that the club insures

that 100% of your donations go to this cause.

I hope you will enjoy your time in the beautiful State of Maine

that Renee dearly loved. She always said September is the

best month.

Here are some Scotties that joined us for the Luncheon on the porch of the East Wind Inn.

Annual STCNE all breed Agility trials

An all breed agility trial, organized by STCNE was conducted in the Northford Connecticut Field house April 23 - 24th.  The events was a great success and allowed participants and audience an opportunity to view the different breeds at work.

Besides differences in size and other physical characteristics we were able to study the difference in approach from the “serious working dogs” like Boxers, Dobermans and a Rottweiler to the playful smaller dogs from the toy group.  Herding dogs were very prominent participants displaying extreme focus on the task ahead coupled with great energy and explosive speed.

Some of the dogs appeared aware of the need to look good and were groomed to perfection while running the course with grace and speed.

What about Scotties? They performed well even their occasional displays of independence.
